Our Staff

The Animal Motel is family owned and operated by the Gutknecht family. Don and Diana Gutknecht are veterans in the pet care industry and in 1979 Don was awarded the prestigious Certified Kennel Operator designation, Daryl received his Certified kennel Operator in 2009. Don and Daryl Gutknecht are the only CKO‘s in the Milwaukee area. Their daughter Dawn, and son Daryl, are also actively involved in the business. Dawn is a professional groomer and Daryl is a pet travel agent.

The Animal Motel staff usually consists of 30 employees, with an increase during the busy summer months. Many employees are certified kennel technicians, who have achieved this certification through the Pet Care Services Association.

Everyone on the Animal Motel staff sincerely loves pets. Each staff member has made a personal commitment to keep all boarding areas sanitized and to extend loving care to each individual guest for whom they are responsible.
