Puppy Classes

There are numerous rewards in beginning to train your dog while he is still a “toddler”. As a beginner, you get a taste of what it feels like to be an effective handler, while your puppy learns to depend on you as a loving, consistent authority. Behavior problems that “might have been” in your future are greatly diminished or altogether eliminated. Get your relationship with your puppy off to great start!

Lessons will include: Grooming, health, and general care; Applying types and levels of discipline; Correcting and praising; Dealing with chewing and housebreaking; Preventing jumping up; Reading body language; Introducing sit, down, wait, and stand commands; Coming when called; Walking without pulling on the lead; Riding in the car

• Eligible Dogs: Puppies age 8 weeks to 4 months
• Classes begin: Monthly - please call for next available date and time
• Class length: Six (6) weeks.
• PLEASE ATTEND THE FIRST CLASS WITH YOUR PUPPY

Basic Obedience Classes

The lengthening attention span and maturing personality of the adolescent dog call for a natural transition to more complex commands and more vigorous training exercises. As your skills and experience as a handler increase, so will your expectations for your dog’s behavior and your ability to understand and guide his development. You will be delighted when your dog’s behavior shows immediate improvement. These are the fun and informative classes for the new handler with the not-so-new dog!

Lessons and Commands Will Include:

• On- and off-lead work
• Heel
• Down
• Behavior problems
• Company manners
• Sit
• Hand signals
• Dog psychology
• Control amid distraction
• Stay
• Training principles
• Boundary training

Eligibility

• Any Dog (age 6 months or older)
• Dogs (age 5 months and older) who have completed Puppy classes

Classes Begin

• First Wednesday of each month
• First Saturday of each month

Class Times

• Wednesday Evenings from 6:30 PM to 8:15 PM
• Saturday Mornings from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM

Class Length

• Classes are 12 weeks long; one training session per week.
• Each training session is 1 hour 45 minutes.

Advanced Obedience Classes

The relationship between you and your dog continues to improve with age and experience. Dogs and handlers who have mastered basic obedience will enjoy this opportunity to take on new challenges and renew or maintain the pleasure derived from working as a team.

Lessons Will Include:

• Polishing all previous commands
• Extensive off-lead work
• Drop on recall
• Jumping
• Retrieving
• Control with handler out of sight

Agility exercises consist of:

• Passing through hoops
• Walking the balance beam
• Going into tunnels
• Mastering the teeter-totter

Eligibility

• Any Dog age who has completed Animal Motel’s Basic Class, or
• Any Dog age who can demonstrate previous training to the instructor's satisfaction

Classes Begin: First Tuesday of every month

Class Times: Evening classes only) from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM and from 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Class Length

• Classes are 12 weeks long; one training session per week.
• Each training session is 1 hour 45 minutes.
